(if you read the end when I get it typed, you'll know why I gave it this title. Also, me is no good at cannon personalities. So don't kill me over it, please. ) Title: Birds Flying Free
Prologue
A girl slowly crept through the forest, her hazel eyes sparkled when the sunlight from breaks in the trees hit them. Her long beautiful hair swayed gently in the small, gentle, breeze. She wore a short sleeve shirt that was pure white. Her jeans were blue and long, they led to white sneakers. She gripped right arm tightly, her cautious hazel eyes also had a tint of pain in them. Blood seeped down her arm and dripped from her middle and index finger. On top of her head were two wolven ears. She also had a wolven tail. Soon, she heard steps behind her. The steps were from wolven paws. One of the girl’s wolven ears flicked back, she stopped. Her eyes now held fear. ‘He found me’ she thought to herself. She turned with fearful eyes as a black wolf stood before her. His eyes were different colors, gold and blue. Her wolven ears and tail disappeared as she stared, eyes wide. The black wolf smirked, “Well now, what do we have here? Why are you so alone? Where are your little friends who were suppose to be protecting you?” The girl frowned, “teme, why do you always follow us? What did we ever do to you?” She gripped her arm tighter as more blood ran from it. That very same blood still stained the black wolves fangs. He smiled, his blood stained fangs appeared. The girl’s eyes narrowed, the black wolf lunged, then nothing.
Chapter 1- The Stranger
The young female awoke, her hazel eyes soon held curiosity, what happened? The wolf, why hadn’t he killed her? She looked around she was in a room. Her arm was wrapped in white fabric. She looked at the ceiling, ‘someone interfered but who?’ she wondered to herself. She turned her head towards the door as the knob turned, a guy in a white coat entered. A doctor, the girl sighed; at first thinking he was a scientist. She actually almost laughed, why would she be in a lab? She sighed again as she looked out the window. She saw birds in a tree, they chirped and flew off. She smiled but turned her head back as she heard a voice. “Looks like your healing quickly,” the doctor said with a smile. She nodded silently, not in the mood for talking. “Your wounds aren’t too bad, except your arm,” the doctor continued, “it was probably the worst one you had.” She nodded again but this time spoke, “How…how did I get here? Who found me?” She frowned, with a saddened look, but it soon returned to a normal expression. “You have visitors,” the doctor said with a wink, “they can answer your question.” The girl nodded as he left, 3 more people soon appeared. One was a girl with brown hair, another with black hair, the last one…the girl’s eyes widened, he looked so familiar. He had long brown hair, his age was probably 13, his eyes…they were the most familiar. The girl looked away for a slight second, the looked back. “Thanks,” she said with a shy look, she still was watching the boy with the long brown hair. “Hello ms. I am Rock Lee,” the black haired one said. The girl nodded, ‘I see, he seems…interesting.’ She thought to herself. As she looked at him she was also seeing his personality, past, likes, and dislikes. A necklace with a white diamond on it silently sparkled as she did so. “I’m Tenten,” the brown-headed girl said with a smile. “Nice to meet you Tenten,” the girl said then looked at the last boy that was there. He was silent, leaning against the door with his arms crossed. He didn’t say anything, just watched. “That’s Neji,” Tenten said pointing towards him. The girl looked at him, he nodded silently. She wondered if she should reveal her real name. ‘I guess it would be okay.’ She thought to herself. She had finished revealing Tenten’s personality and other simple things. Something told her not to do Neji. “My name is Good…Tasha…” she said shyly, almost in a whisper. “It is nice to meet you Ms. Good Tasha,” Rock Lee smiled. “Just use Good for short, please,” Good said quietly, she smiled, they hadn’t questioned her name. ‘I will not have to tell them about Evil.’ Good smiled happily. “How did you guys find me?” Good asked curiously. Neji and Tenten pointed, “Lee,” they both said. Lee smiled, “always a pleasure when a lady is in need, but Neji stepped in first.”
Good turned her head and looked at him. Neji looked away, he also had white fabric. It was from his neck down to his left arm. Good saw through it, a long gash from his neck to his left hand’s left index finger. Good’s eyes widened, when he had stepped in… ‘He got hurt because of me,’ Good frowned, ‘I hope he is…okay.’ Neji walked off silently, but he nodded towards Good as if to say he was fine. Good smiled she was happy he was. But, something was nagging at her, why was he so familiar? She had never seen him met him before. Or had she? Good shook her head, of course not! It was impossible! Wasn’t it? Tenten noticed Good’s troubled look, “are you ok?” “I am fine,” Good answered, “I guess I am just tired.” “Then we shall let you sleep! Come on Tenten! Let the girl rest!” Lee yelled as he pulled Tenten out of the room. “Hey!” She exclaimed as Lee drug her out of the room. Good watched as they disappeared and then she laid her head down. ‘Neji…huh?’ She thought to herself with a grin. She watched the birds chirp; they soon took flight and flew away. As Good watched them go, her smile grew. ‘ This is going to be interesting…very interesting.’
Chapter 2-Legands
‘The black wolf lunged at her, Good was frozen, but, a shadow knocked her aside before the wolf hit her. Good was on the ground as she heard a boy yell out in pain. Then the wolf yelped as it turned and ran. Good’s vision was fading as 3 shadows walked towards her. She smelt blood and then nothing.’ Good’s eyes snapped open and she noticed she was still in the hospital. She calmed herself, ‘it was only a dream…of the past.’ She turned her head and was surprised to see a curious Neji there. His look was neutral, but his scent revealed his curiosity. Good smiled slightly, curiosity in her eyes as well. “Neji? Why are you here so late?” “I have a few questions, do you mind answering them?” Neji asked. Good nodded, “sure.” “What happened to you? Before you got here? Why was that wolf after? Why does your name being with ‘Good’?” ‘Crap, I knew someone was going to ask me about my name.’ Good thought to herself, then she spoke. “Well, those are some hard questions. But, what happened before all this, is something that will continuously repeat itself.” Neji listened silently, awaiting to hear more. Repeat? “Some time ago a being called the ‘Ellimist’ came to our world. He told us it was our time to try and find it, but in the process we would change. The wolf after me…his name is ‘Darcia’. He kills us every time we try and go. But we were always revived and forced to go again. As for my name…I am one of two halves. Evil Tasha is the other, though, she is no longer evil. She is also one of the wolves who try and find Paradise.” “Wolves?” Good nodded slowly and silently. Soon, she disappeared and in her place was a beautiful light brown wolf. Her eyes were a goldish brown color and they sparkled. The wolf was in a sitting position, soon, Good returned. “We try so hard to find it…but we never succeed. I have also recently became the ‘Flower maiden’ she is the key to Paradise. Darcia wants me the most and he has already slaughtered all my friends. I ran…because they told me to.” Good looked down as she felt tear swell up in her eyes. She blinked them away as she refused to cry. “I feel like a traitor for leaving. No…I am a traitor for leaving.” “I guess it would be hard to leave the ones you love,” Neji mumbled as he stared off. His face now held a far away look. Good watched him silently she could tell his mind was troubled. “Neji…? What troubles you?” She asked softly. “It’s nothing,” Neji answered, looking out the window. ‘I wonder…should I? No! I will not interfere with his mind.’ Good frowned. Then she slowly began to sing a sweet lullaby. Nobody here would know, but her song was know as the ‘Flower Maiden Lullaby’. Neji listened to the sweet tune and realized he felt relaxed. Maybe even a bit drowsy. He sat in a chair that was near her bed. He was trying very hard to keep awake. Good’s lullaby ended and she opened her closed eyes. She looked over at Neji and felt a soft smile on her lips. He was sitting in the chair was his head down; she had put him to sleep. ‘Poor guy, he was so tired. I wonder what was on his mind?’ Good was tempted to stroke his hair, but she didn’t. Instead, she put her hand gently on his shoulder. “If you remain asleep here and the doctors find you…you could get into trouble.” She said this quietly so she didn’t wake him. Her cheeks were red, but she ignored them. ‘I cannot love anybody here. I will cause them nothing but trouble.’ Good sighed, ‘Maybe someday…I’ll be free.’
Chapter 3- Trouble
Neji’s eyes fluttered open as he sat up and rubbed his eyes. Wait a minute, where was he? He looked around and realized he wasn’t in the hospital anymore. He was back in his room. ‘How did I get here? What was that sweet noise I had heard?’ “Good…did she?” Neji wondered, “was I dreaming?” Neji sat outside on a tree, “It’s not possible. It couldn’t have been a dream. It was real, everything.” “Neji? Is that you? You sleepy head! Get your butt down from there and stop your daydreaming! We have work to do!” A voice shouted. Neji nearly fell out of the tree, as he looked down, startled. “Tenten!?” Neji exclaimed, seeing her. Tenten had a raised eyebrow, “um. Yeah…are you done daydreaming yet?” Neji gave an embarrassed look, “hai, sorry.” He jumped down from the tree, still embarrassed. Tenten sighed as they both walked off. Neji still thought to himself about Good. ‘Something isn’t right about her. But I can’t seem to remember all that happened last night.’ Neji thought to himself. He looked up and stared at the blue sky, ‘that song…it soothed my mind so much.’ He closed his eyes as the wind blew, he felt as if he heard it whispering in the wind. He let loose a silent sigh. ‘No time to think about it now. Later…maybe.’
Good watched the wind blow, ‘why am I getting involved with these people? I will cause them nothing but trouble.’ Good put her head on her pillow. She gave a sigh, ‘when I get well enough to leave…I should…I don’t wish to bring them trouble.’ Suddenly, a strange feeling was tugging at her. She knew what the feeling was. ‘The gravity, it’s pulling me. It’s because…I can feel the gravity of it all.’ She lay there as she felt the feeling in her stomach. “Paradise.”
Neji panted as he wiped the sweat from his forehead. He looked over at Tenten and Lee. Lee looked ok but Tenten was exhausted. It was just another normal day of training and hard work. Neji leaned against a tree and stared at the ground. “Neji?” Tenten looked at him curiously, “what is wrong? You seem to daydream every two seconds!” Neji gave her an annoyed look; “I’m fine for the last time, Tenten.” Tenten just rolled her eyes, “fine.”
Good’s wolven ears flicked back and forth as she heard the door open. She quickly made them disappear as that doctor walked in. There seemed to be an excited gleam in his eyes. “I have good news, your recovering well and you can check out of the hospital tomorrow.” Good could’ve jumped for joy, ‘finally! I will be able to leave!’ “Thanks,” She said happily. He smiled at her and then left. Good then frowned, “but what if it is to late tomorrow?” She looked up at the ceiling, “what if I get to attached and wish to stay?”
Chapter 4- Stay? Why?
The next morning, Good checked out. She walked around Konoha as she watched the daily activity. ‘This place seems quite peaceful.’ The sun shone brightly today and the sky was clear of clouds. Good made her way to a tree and stopped, leaning against it. “I guess I could stay a few more days.” She looked around to make sure no one was watching and then her wolven form appeared. She left the tree and continued to walk through the village. Though this drew a lot of attention to her and people began to whisper. “That is a big dog,” she heard a boy say to his peers. “Yeah, she is really tall,” whispered another. Good stopped and looked at them with a wolfish smile. Her tail wagged in a friendly gesture and then continued her journey. The kids began to call her over, but she ignored them. Her sight was on a food place and it made her muzzle water. She was suddenly very hungry for some reason, but knew she had no money. She had used all of it for other things, the hospital for example. A familiar scent hit her nostrils then as she lifted her head and sniffed the air. But a sharp pain hit her paw at the same time and she yelped. Someone had stepped on her paw! She snarled as she found who it was and she followed the person. The boy had black hair, with a bluish hue, and eyes were onyx. Good’s wolven ears pinned back against her head in annoyance. ‘Just a small nip for payback and nothing more.’ She thought to herself as she approached the boy. She followed for a few more seconds and then snapped at him. She was able to nip one of his fingers but he jerked his hand away. Good turned and bolted, ‘he shouldn’t be able to catch me since I’m a wolf.’ The familiar scent hit her again and it drew her to the forest. She looked behind her to see no one was following. A sigh of relief came from her maw. But she sensed a presence and this made her muscles tighten. She slowed at a stream when she began to pant. She lowered her crest and lapped up some water. Then her human form appeared again when she was finished. “I know you’re there, come out!” Good demanded, but in a normal tone. The same boy appeared, he had followed her through the trees. “Why’d you follow me?” Good asked. “Why’d you bite me?” The boy answered. “You stepped on my paw!” Good answered as her wolven image flickered on again. She gave an angry snarl as she lost the scent, again. “What’s your name? Why are you here?” The boy asked. “What’s your name? Why are you here?” Good snapped back. “I asked you first,” the boy answered. This silenced Good as she stared at her paws. Then she answered him. “My name is Good. I don’t really know why I am here. I guess I might stay. So now answer me, who are you?” The boy was silent for a moment, “Sasuke and I live in Konoha. Stay? Why?” “None of your business!” Good snapped. Suddenly she caught the scent again, her ears pricked forward. She was determined not to lose it this time. “I have to go, please, next time look where you’re going.” Good said quickly as she raced off.
When she found the scent’s source her human image returned. She found Neji sitting in a tree, staring at the sky. “Neji!” Good called as she tried to get his attention. Neji looked down at her, “Good? Why are you here? How’d you find me?” “The hospital said I was well enough to leave and I followed your scent,” Good answered with a small smile. Neji jumped down from the tree as Good looked at it. The tree was beautiful. The leaves shone with a green healthy color. “It’s nice to see you again, Neji,” Good grinned. “I think the last time was when you fell asleep.” Neji nodded, “that lullaby, what’s it called? How do you know it?” “The Flower Maiden lullaby is know by all Flower maidens,” Good answered. “It can soothe almost any wolf, sometimes humans.” “I noticed.” “Sorry, I didn’t mean to put you to sleep.” “It’s ok.” Good looked at the sun, it was already setting. She had used the whole day looking for Neji? This made her blush a little. She made her wolven form appear again as she released a howl. ‘As a wolf…she looks so free. As a human, her eyes show fear as if she were a slave. Though she is still pretty…why’d I think that?’ Good’s howling ceased as she looked back at Neji. Her eyes sparkled as she wished he could howl with her. But he was human, so he wouldn’t. She turned human as she jumped up on a tree. She sat down on a branch as Neji sat on the one above her. “Neji, I must leave soon,” Good frowned as she stared downcast. “Why!?” Neji asked, some alarm was in his voice. “I must go and open Paradise.” “You’re going alone?” “I…don’t know, I haven’t found anybody to come with me.” “…I could…” “R…really?” “Sure, I have nothing better to do.” “Thanks!” Good climbed up to the branch he was on and hugged him tightly. She felt her whole face go red, but she was so happy she didn’t have to go alone. “Neji? Are you up there?” A voice said. Neji and Good tripped, both falling from the tree.
